Overview

Brandywine Realty Trust, a premier commercial Class A full service real estate company with operations, in several major markets, has an immediate opening for a full-time Investment Associate in our greater Washington DC region (METDC), with offices in Tysons, VA and Washington, DC. The role has the primary responsibility for working within the METDC region, and also interfaces directly with the Corporate Investments Department in Philadelphia.  The successful candidate will need to be very proficient with investment modeling, have excellent analytical skills, along with exceptional inter-personal skills and will have the opportunity to present their findings to various departments and management levels within the organization, including the CEO.  The ideal candidate should have a high energy level and be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.  In addition, must have a “team player attitude”, and a positive, outgoing, customer service orientation is a must.

 

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite property acquisitions using ARGUS and Excel.
  • Model and review complex joint venture waterfalls in Excel.
  • Manage the acquisition and disposition real estate due diligence process.
  • Prepare development and redevelopment models.
  • Create investment memos and presentations for Board of Trustees, investment committee and internal transaction team using PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Research sales and lease comps for various projects.
  • Mine various sources (i.e. – Morningstar CMBS Lead Generator, Auction.com, CoStar, etc.) for investment opportunities and market intelligence.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analysis on an as-needed basis.
  • Manage all facets of the real estate transaction process.
  • Conduct property tours with investors, brokers, etc.
  • Support regional Asset Management functions as needed to provide tracking, quality assurance review and reporting of leasing, operational and financial outcomes and trends of the existing portfolio.

 

Qualifications

                                                                         

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of three to five years of working experience in real estate investments.
  • Real estate transactional experience.
  • Proficient in using ARGUS, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Solid experience and understanding with financial modeling and building/manipulating complex spreadsheets.
  • Ability to interpret and synthesize general concepts as well as raw data into a comprehensive financial analysis.

 

 

  • Team player to primarily support the METDC Regional team, the Corporate Investments team, and the Development team on an as-needed basis.
  • Ability to multi-task various assignments and prioritize.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with various levels of personnel, including senior management.
  • General knowledge of the DC office marketplace - geography and underwriting conventions
